Using Critical Financial Thinking to Improve Your Management of the Practice
Saturday, Oct. 24
9 a.m. to noon
Event code: SPE05
San Francisco Marriott - Yerba Buena 5
Fee: $225 OnsiteInstructors: Steven R. Robinson, OCS, COE; Derek Preece, MBA
Synopsis: This course is designed for administrators and physicians who bear the responsibility for monitoring and managing the financial performance of the practice. In our current environment, practice execs need to know more than just how to perform calculations. They must be able to present data to illustrate, motivate, and monitor.
The course will begin with the benchmarking and statistical calculations that may be appropriate and then move to refining the analysis for your practice, taking into account size, culture, and subspecialty. There will be an interactive exchange on how to effectively communicate financial matters to physicians. Finally, the course will deal with using financial data to support consistent decision making and to motivate and monitor strategic planning.
Objectives: At the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Understand the gamut of benchmark calculations that could be used in the management of their practices;
- Determine what information is the most pertinent and critical at this time for their practices,
- Determine how frequently and in what format they should report financial data to the physician group, and;
- Incorporate financial analysis into the strategic planning process for their practices.
Attendance is limited. Early registration is highly recommended.
