Logging Into AAO.org
If you are a due-paying member of the Academy or AAOE, you have been given an ID number or member ID. Use this ID number to log in to the Web site. If you have changed your password or have created a web account with a password use your username and password to log in:
- Enter your user name (last name) in login box
- Enter your member id or password in the login box
- Click the login button.
The last name field can only accept 15 characters maximum. If your last name is greater than 15 characters, abbreviate it to the first 15 characters and use this to log in.
Remember My Login on This Computer
You can remain indefinitely logged in to the Academy Web site. On the log in page, check the remember my login box and you will stay logged in to the Web site until you clear your cookies, log out of the Web site with the log out link, or log in to the Web site with your login from a different computer.
If you enable this feature, note that you will need to provide your password again for certain sensitive areas of the Web site like CME Central and Update Your Membership Listing.
Types of Users and Access to AAO Content
The Academy provides four levels of access to its Web site:
- Guests: Guests (or public users) are able to browse the site without logging in. However, the majority of content on the site is behind a member log in.
- Registered Web Users: Guests who have created a web account online. Registered users have the same level of access to content as public users. See Creating a Web Account below for more information on registered web users.
- AAOE Members: Visitors who are members of The Academy of Ophthalmic Executives. AAOE Members have access to most Academy information plus full access to AAOE practice management information.
- Academy Members: Visitors who are also members of the Academy. Academy Members have full access to all services within the site.
For more information about Academy membership, see Becoming an Academy Member below.
Forgotten Login
If you have forgotten your login (last name and ID or password,) send yourself your login and if you experience problems doing so, send a request to the webmaster at webmaster@aao.org for your log in and provide either your last name or your id number in the e-mail.
Changing Your User Name
To change your User Name, contact the Academy Webmaster by e-mail at webmaster@aao.org. A response will be sent within two business days.
Changing Your Password
If you have a login for the Academy Web site, you can log in with a password rather than an id number or member id, using the Change Your Password form. If you have not logged in already, you will be prompted to do so. You will be asked to enter your username (last name) and id number (member id.) You can then create your password. You will be asked to enter it twice for verification.
After you create your password, verification will be sent to the e-mail address we have on file for you. You will be able to log in to the Web site with your username (last name) and new password the next time you are prompted to log into the Web site. If you create a password, you will not be able to log into the Web site with your id number.
Remember that your id number will remain your primary means of identification with the Academy. The Change Your Password feature is provided to make logging into the Web site easier.
If you are having trouble changing your password, contact us for assistance. Our staff will not be able to change your password or speak it to you over the phone. We can send your password to any e-mail address you specify.
Becoming an Academy Member
Applications for Academy membership are available online in the Academy Membership section.
Creating a Web Account
If you are not a member of the Academy or AAOE and want to register for the Annual Meeting online or purchase items in our online store, you must create a web account (or web record) on our site either during checkout in the store or before registering for the meeting. Specific information and instruction is provided in both of these situations.
If you are a member of the Academy and have forgotten your login, do not create a web account as it will not give you access to member sections of the Web site, discounts in the store, or the member rate during registration.
Send yourself your your member login or web login, or contact the webmaster and ask for your member or web login at webmaster@aao.org.
