    ESCRS Femtosecond Cataract Surgery Study

    By Peter Barry, FRCS, FRCOphth

    Cataract/Anterior Segment

In this interview from the ESCRS 2014 Annual Meeting, Dr. Peter Barry presents results from the ESCRS Femtosecond Laser-Assisted Cataract Surgery (FLACS) study, showing laser cataract surgery is as good as routine phacoemulsification but does not currently outperform it. Funded entirely by ESCRS, this ongoing study is the first to compare FLACS and phacoemulsification in matched patients who were measured by major quality benchmarks: visual acuity, surgically induced astigmatism, complications, and biometric errors.
