The presenter will simplify the red flags and patient-data privacy and security rules. The session will cover: 1) implementing an effective red flags identity-theft prevention program; 2) preparing for the new HIPAA data-security breach notification requirements; 3) understanding the HIPAA liability provisions for breach-of-notification rule; and 4) complying with the new HIPAA-disclosure accounting requirements and marketing restrictions. By the end of this session, you will be better prepared to comply with the FTC red flags fules, have the tools to design new HIPAA compliance policies and procedures and have a practical understanding of what you need to do and how to comply.

Celebrating its 24th year, Bausch & Lomb and the Eye Bank Association of America (EBAA) again host this annual benefit run/walk. The $50 registration fee is tax deductible as a charitable contribution and benefits the EBAA, the nation's oldest national transplant association. This year's gala will be held at the beautiful, fabled Palace Hotel. Take a hotel tour and admire the 1909 Maxfield Parrish mural, The Pied Piper of Hamlin. Join senior ophthalmologists at this reception, where two special programs will be presented. Neuro-ophthalmologist Andrew Lee, MD, will talk about lifestyle modifications that may help stave off Alzheimer disease in "It's Not the Years, It's the Mileage."  In "Seismology for Ophthalmologists," Peggy Hellweg, PhD, will explain how scientists measure earthquakes and how this knowledge has added to our understanding of plate tectonics and the earth's interior. All attendees welcome.
