The sixth-annual Eye Injury Snapshot took place from May 17 to 24, 2009. Results were largely consistent with previous years, but did show an increase in injuries to children.
Of the injuries reported in the survey, one in five of the patients were children 12 years or younger (compared to the previous five-year survey average of 15.5 percent). Check out the full analysis of the 2009 Eye Injury Snapshot results.

About the Project
The Eye Injury Snapshot is an annual study conducted by the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Ocular Trauma to identify the nature and prevalence of eye injuries. It has been conducted each year since 2004.
