  • The American Academy of Ophthalmology is committed to the health and safety of our meeting attendees, exhibitors, staff and meeting contractors.

In line with best practices as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the State of Illinois, and City of Chicago, AAO 2024 will not require proof of vaccination for entry to the meeting. However, everyone is strongly encouraged to get their flu shots and the latest COVID booster before arriving onsite. The Academy also endorses the use of masks.

Chicago does not currently have mask or vaccine requirements for public places including McCormick Place. The Chicago Department of Public Health does strongly recommend that individuals stay up-to-date on their vaccinations – including COVID-19, flu and RSV. Learn more about the recommendations and resources from the city of Chicago.

McCormick Place has achieved GBAC STAR™ Facilities Accreditation through the Global BioRisk Advisory Council, a division of the worldwide cleaning industry association ISSA — considered the gold standard in the industry. Learn more on the McCormick Place healthy meetings resource page.
