Question:
Is it true that omega-3 is good for dry eye? I take the supplement daily to reduce my symptoms.
Answer:
Omega 3 and omega 6 are both polyunsaturated fats. Omega 3 is found naturally in oily fish. Foods high in omega 6 include nuts and seeds and vegetable oils and eggs. You can also purchase them as dietary supplements at the drug store.
While there is evidence omega 3 and omega 6 may benefit your health overall, there is no consistent data showing a benefit to dry eye. Your doctor is the best source of information for dry eye treatments. And be sure to ask your doctor before taking any medication.
