Question:
Can I drive after a corneal scraping procedure in one eye?
Answer:
Often after a corneal scraping procedure (also known as a superficial keratectomy), patients can have discomfort and blurred vision in the operated eye.
Whether or not you can drive after the procedure depends on the ability to drive by using the other untreated eye and the severity of your symptoms. If the vision is not good enough in the untreated eye or if you feel uncomfortable driving with only one eye, you should have someone drive you home. After the procedure, the doctor may place an anesthetic drop or a bandage contact lens in your eye to ease your symptoms.
