How long does the retina remain swollen after an eye stroke? My doctor told me my sight would clear in four to six weeks as the swelling decreased. It has been seven weeks and there is only slight improvement.

Visual recovery from a blocked retinal blood vessel (commonly called an eye stroke) is variable and depends on many factors. It is difficult to accurately predict visual recovery and unfortunately many people suffer some degree of permanent visual loss. However some people can have excellent recovery of vision even after several months. There are new treatments for this condition so be sure to ask your ophthalmologist if you are a candidate.
