    Cataract/Anterior Segment

Elschnig pearls are clusters of proliferated epithelial cells. The image represents the clinical appearance of Elschnig pearls on retroillumination as seen in a postoperative cataract patient. Notes: A 60-year-old man reported progressive blurring of vision over the past year, following cataract surgery. His unaided visual acuity was recorded as finger counting at 3 meters. After a detailed evaluation, an YAG capsulotomy was performed. The patient's unaided visual acuity as noted on his next examination a week later was 20/40, N10.
