    Cataract/Anterior Segment

The "sunset sign" in Morgagnian cataract refers to the visible appearance where the dense, brown nucleus of the cataract sinks inferiorly due to liquefaction of the surrounding cortical material. This phenomenon creates a visual effect resembling a setting sun, where the upper portion of the anterior chamber appears clearer, while the denser nucleus settles at the bottom. This sign is quite distinctive and indicative of an advanced stage of hypermature cataract, emphasizing the severity and progression of lens changes associated with this condition.
